With market asset values moving up, charitable giving can be a process to
consider early by donating appreciated securities to our Synagogue. You may have huge
profits in the form of appreciated assets that could be taxed if the right planning isn’t done.
We encourage you to consider donating directly to Synagogue Emanu-El to
receive the tax break based on the current fair market value, if you itemize deductions,
and avoid paying capital gains.
The Synagogue avoids paying capital gains tax and can sell the security(s) to
further its mission with the cash proceeds. We are a charitable organization.

Please initiate the process by calling Ruth (843-571-3264) on the synagogue staff to advise her that you will be donating stock and the type of stock included in the transaction.  Ruth will provide you with the transfer information to Spencer Lynch at Raymond James. Upon receipt of the stock, Raymond James confirms the sale of the stock and mails or wires the proceeds to Synagogue Emanu-El. The office will mail you confirmation for your records.
