We are glad you are here, and let us be the first to say, "SHALOM!" The Shalom Charleston Committee of the Charleston Jewish Federation is here to assist you through your transition to the area, and to make you feel at home and welcome in the Lowcountry.
The diversity represented through programs, synagogues, schools, and activities in Charleston is guaranteed to foster opportunities for you to find others with similar interests to share experiences.
We are happy to meet with you and help you explore our community’s resources and different ways to get involved. Whether you are a Young Adult and would like to connect with the community through Young Jewish Charleston, or, you are a Young Family and would like to meet other families with kids, or you might be interested in getting involved in one of our committees, or volunteering with the Jewish Community Relations Council — Whatever it is, we will help you feel right at home.

The Charleston Jewish Federation recognized as an Intermediate Jewish community in the US and Canada, is distinguished by a high level of volunteer leadership commitment, creativity, and innovation, and an annual campaign of over $1 million. - Visit Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim (KKBE). Founded in 1749 as a Sephardic Orthodox congregation, in 1841, Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim – also known as KKBE – was firmly committed to the path of religious Reform Judaism. - Charleston Holocaust Memorial. In Marion Square, downtown Charleston, this memorial was constructed in 1999. Its mission is one of remembrance and it stands as a permanent monument – a reminder of the Holocaust for future generations, long after the few remaining survivors in our community are gone.
- A World of Jewish Culture. A World of Jewish Culture was Inaugurated in 1998 as a joint project of the Yaschik/Arnold Jewish Studies Program at the College of Charleston, in cooperation with Piccolo Spoleto. This annual series, always late May/early June, brings Jewish music, lectures, movies and other content to the Charleston festival.
