November 2018 Message from Mens' Club President Harold Grater

The Sukkah went up in record time! Thank you to all you were able to help! As the saying goes, many hands make light work. The Sukkah was also moved to the parking lot which helped in construction. And an added bonus, fewer bugs! A special thank you to Al Hawkins for spearheading this event.

Our first Brisket and Scotch Dinner was held in the Sukkah and it was a success. We are looking forward to this becoming a popular annual event during the High Holidays.

We have several events coming up! The Men’s Club will participate in Synagogue Emanu-El’s Veteran’s Day program on November 17th, recognizing members of our Armed Forces for their service and sacrifice. If you would like to participate, please contact Charles Richards at 843-452-4429. A program has again been planned for our Hanukkah visit to Bishop Gadsden on December 9th, stay tuned for more information. Preparation for our Annual Hanukkah dinner is in the works. The dinner will be on Friday, December 7th, featuring baked potatoes and chili. Additional programs coming up will be The World Wide Wrap and The Yellow Candle Program. Stay tuned for dates and details.

Our next Spirit Night Meeting will be on November 20th at The Kickin’ Chicken on Sam Rittenberg Blvd., Topics of discussion will be the upcoming FJMC Weekend in the Georgia Mountains, outreach ideas, Christmas Day at the movies and Chinese dinner. Your feedback is welcome. Come join us and let us know what you think.

One Meal a Day

That is what many of our Jewish Brothers are experiencing in the Abayudayan region of Uganda due to the current famine. Our Men’s Club is a partner with the Seaboard Region of Jewish Men’s Club in helping them. The Abayudayan women hand-knit Kippot that many Men's Clubs are selling for $18 each and 100% of the money goes to support our Jewish Brothers and Sisters in Uganda. The money helps with food, education, Hadassah School and maintaining their Jewish Life. Please support our Tikum Olam project to secure their future. Call Charles Richards at 843-452-4429 or the Synagogue office 843-571-3264 to place your order.
Thank you for your support.
