An Important Announcement from Rabbi Rosenbaum

"How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard." - Winnie the Pooh

Dear Emanu-El Family,

For the past decade, I have been proud and honored to be the rabbi of our congregation. We have shared many moments of true joy and have come together during times of heartbreak. Through it all, this community has been a place of generosity and kindness for both me and my children.

It is bittersweet, therefore, to let you know that I will not pursue a renewal of my contract at Emanu-El, meaning my time as the synagogue's spiritual leader will conclude June 30, 2020.

My decision did not come easily. I cherish being able to know so many wonderful people here, as well as the countless memories that come from being a part of your lives. Quite simply, I am moving on because it's time - time to have a fresh start both professionally and personally.

My heart is filled with gratitude - for the members of this synagogue, who gave me my first chance to be the head rabbi of a congregation; for my co-workers, who have supported me throughout my time here; and for my family and friends, who help inspire me to be the best rabbi - and person - I can be.

As we look to the future, I am confident that Synagogue Emanu-El has much to look forward to. In the meantime, I hope we'll have numerous chances between now and next summer to experience a "long Jewish goodbye" with one another, to make more memories together, and to continue to build upon friendships that will endure no matter where we live.

B'shalom,
Rabbi Adam J. Rosenbaum
Rabbi

I echo the Rabbi's sentiment that we will have plenty of time for a long Jewish good-bye, time to reminisce personally and as a congregation. We thank him for his leadership, true caring and compassion. Synagogue Emanu-El has grown in these past 10 years. He will be missed.

Sincerely,
Marsha Gewirtzman
President
