Send 2020 Packing with an End-of-Year Gift

Send 2020 packing with a gift to your synagogue!

We are happily looking forward to a 2021 filled with health, safety and Jewish connection for our community. To help us say goodbye to 2020, and enter the new year with financial strength, please consider an end-of-year donation to Synagogue Emanu-El. Whether through increased membership commitment or dedicated donations, your support makes a difference!

  • When making your year-end gifts, remember that in order to obtain a 2020 charitable deduction, the IRS requires donations to be made by December 31, 2020. Letters containing checks to be postmarked on or before December 31, 2020.
  • If you are making your gift with stock, we request that all stock transfers be completed by Friday, December 28 to ensure that they are handled properly. Please notify Ruth Swindell in the synagogue office so that we can anticipate the transfer.
  • The CARES Act approved by Congress in March provides special tax benefits for charitable giving this year: among them, there are no restrictions on charitable deductions for gifts to public charities, such as Synagogue Emanu-El. Individuals over 59 1/2 years of age can make unlimited gifts from their IRAs to public charities and take full offsetting deductions. Consult your tax advisor for more information.

BOTTOM LINE: 2020 is an excellent year to make the charitable gifts you have been contemplating over the years!

As always, contact your financial advisor to determine your personal tax situation. If you have specific endowment giving plans, please contact Executive Director Bob Greenberg.
