The Festivals: A Year of Celebration, Enrichment, and Engagement (and lots of free stuff!)
In 5783, Synagogue Emanu-El will present a year long program we are calling “The Festivals.” The Festivals, which is generously supported by a grant from the Charleston Jewish Federation, will help make each of the three holidays of Sukkot, Passover, and Shavuot more accessible, inclusive, engaging and fun!
A few weeks before each of the holidays, we will hold a workshop, a morning or afternoon of learning about all the elements and rituals -- how to shake a lulav and etrog (and what they actually are!), why we drink four cups of wine at the Seder (and how to lead one!), what’s the best cheesecake to celebrate the Torah (chocolate, always chocolate)? We will also explore ways to make each of these holidays meaningful for every generation of your family, so that everyone can connect and celebrate the festival together without feeling like something must be sacrificed. It’s a program for every generation and all ages.
