Praying, or davening, has been a key piece of Jewish practice from ancient times into modernity. The words we use to guide our davening change from day to day, hour to hour, and season to season. The tefillot (prayers) of 2022 are not necessarily the same as they were when the siddur was first codified. Over the course of 3 sessions, we will explore how davening is framed and understood in different Jewish texts, explore the origins of the tefillot we still say today, and find deeper meaning in what it means to engage in tefillah.
