March 22 Update: Impact of COVID-19 at Synagogue Emanu-El

Dear Emanu-El Family,

Last week was filled with new challenges and adjustments. We have found new ways to connect to one another, even as we continue to be uncertain of what the future holds. We continue to honor God and each other as we take proper precautions and safety measures for the sake of everyone's health.

As social distancing should never mean spiritual distancing, we will continue to utilize Zoom for morning...Read more...

Mar 24 COVID-19 Update:  Synagogue Staffing

To our Synagogue Emanu-El Family

I recently read a commentary that the current COVID-19 impact is evolving. It doesn't feel that way. It feels like it is devolving at warp speed. What we thought we knew 2 weeks ago we now know was but a hint of what we knew last week. What we know now is likely to be little more than a harbinger of what we will know a week from now.

At the synagogue, a team is working tirelessly to insure that...Read more...

FYI - Email and text scam is back - open messages from the rabbi carefully

Once again we have received reports of a scam targeting congregants by someone purporting to be Rabbi Rosenbaum. They have been coming from an email account that may look like ours, but our emails always end in emanu-el.com.  We have also received word of someone spoofing the rabbi's cell phone number and sending texts.

The emails start off innocently enough asking for help. Sometimes, they eventually mature into a request...Read more...

Keeping our family and community safe in light of COVID-19 is on all of our minds. With the news, it is hard to think of anything else. At our synagogue we continue to monitor the situation and weigh the benefits of keeping the building open vs. the risk.

A Message from the Rabbi Search Committee - Success

After an extensive search that began some five months ago, it is the distinct pleasure of the Rabbi Search Committee to share that an agreement in principle has been reached with Rabbi Evan Ravski to lead Synagogue Emanu-El starting July 1, 2020. Rabbi Ravski and his wife, Abby, felt such an outpouring of warmth from the congregation. Along with their sons, Judah and Asher, they look forward to being part of our community.

The journey...Read more...

Unfortunately, due to the unsafe condition of the kitchen and very necessary refurbishment, we will be unable to...Read more...
