High Holidays 2019/5780 at Synagogue Emanu-El:  Music

Yuriy Bekker
Conductor

For the fourth year in a row, Yuriy Bekker will lead an orchestral rendition of Kol Nidre immediately prior to our Erev Yom Kippur service. He will be joined by Tomas Jakubek on violin and Elizabeth Murphy on cello. Yuriy has delighted audiences since 2007 as Concertmaster of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra. He was named its principal Pops conductor in 2016.

This year Yuriy will usher in Kol Nidre playing a rare world famous 1638 Guarneri violin. The soaring rich sounds of these strings will set the tone for our Yom Kippur worship — Tuesday, October 8th, at 6:30PM.

We are grateful for his continual generosity to Synagogue Emanu-El, and look forward to when he sets the tone for our Erev Yom Kippur service, Tuesday, October 8, at 6:30pm.

Raise a shout to the LORD, all the earth, break into joyous songs of praise!
Sing praise to the LORD with the lyre, with the lyre and melodious song.
With trumpets and the blast of the horn raise a shout before the LORD, the King.
(Psalm 98:4-6)
