Dr. Kogan’s class will cover the first and second books of Kings.
These books tell the story of Judah and Israel from the death of David to the fall of Judah to the Babylonians. They cover a period of nearly 400 years, from 960 BCE till 586 BCE.
The tale is an exciting one, including vivid accounts of good and evil kings, angry and eloquent prophets who denounce corruption in high places, villains and reformers, military victories and defeats, and dramatic personal stories of individuals caught up in turbulent times. This is the chance to learn about a crucial period in our people’s past in which they struggled with issues of the use of national power versus religious ethics which once again impact today’s Jewish State.
