Adult Ed: The Biblical Books of Samuel and Kings
Taught by Dr. Michael S. Kogan

This course is a continuation of Prof. Kogan’s course last summer on the books of Joshua and Judges. The books of Samuel and Kings continue the story of the Israelites as they settle in the Promised Land, choose a king to rule over them, then, a century later, split into two countries (Judah and Israel) and try to flourish even in the face of powerful empires surrounding them. We will tell the stories of Samuel, Saul, David and Jonathan, Solomon, and the later kings of Judah and Israel.

This is our story, full of the heroes and villains of biblical history. It is an exciting tale which not only tells us who we are, but has shaped the self-understanding of the entire Western world. Please join us on this journey through our sacred story.
