I cannot believe that we are a little over a week away from the competition. As the time is winding down, I want to extend a challenge to my fellow dancers.

Top 10 Reasons Why I’m Glad I’m a Dancer by Eileen Chepenik

Dancing With the Stars of David is less than two weeks away. I have had such a fantastic experience. I’m really going to miss going to my practice sessions. People have asked me what I like about dancing. Here are my top ten answers!

10. It’s a great physical workout. I feel myself getting stronger and in better shape every day. My clothes are even starting to fit again.

9. It’s a great mental workout. Did you read that dancing helps prevent Alzheimer’s Disease? Now I know why. Remembering my routine requires serious concentration. Where to put my feet. Where to put my arms, my hands, my head, my hips… Putting it all together is no easy task.

8. It lets me get in touch with my inner “star.” It’s imperative to get in touch with this or I’ll never make it to the final performance! Really, though, it’s a lot of fun. I’m glad I’m taking advantage of this opportunity.

7. It helps me develop rhythm. Yes. Even a klutz has some redeeming qualities.

6. It gets in my soul. How can it not, with that wonderful music!

5. It’s therapeutic. It’s even better than transcendental meditation!

4. I get to wear a fantastic outfit! Like I’ve never worn before and I know I’ll never wear again!!!!

3. The company is good. I’m honored to be dancing in the program with the other Dancing With the Stars of David volunteers.

2. The cause is good. I feel so good about helping to raise funds for Synagogue Emanu-El.

1. I have the best instructor in the world! Travis is the greatest instructor anyone could ever want. He has made this experience a complete joy and has me doing things I never thought I would be doing!!!!! Just wait until you see!!!! You’ll be shocked speechless. I promise!

Ready…Set…Go!
I am two weeks into my dance lessons and well, let’s just say, I am S-O-R-E! But it is worth it. I can guarantee you that I, along with my amazing competitors, are “bringing it” and working our tushies off. But it is a lot of fun! My partner, Max, and I have picked out a dance and a song and are starting to work on steps that will be in our routine. You may be asking yourself – “what style of dance are we doing?” Well, you will just have to stay tuned to find out!

And more good news… We have got the online voting up and running. So be sure to vote for your favorite contestant (Me? Sharyn? Eileen? Scott? Newt?) often to make sure that they get the most votes (ahem, cough, cough – vote for me )

It really doesn’t matter who wins though. I can tell you that 1) this is going to be a great, fun and exciting night (so be sure to buy tickets soon); 2) the money raised is going to a great cause – our SHUL!; and 3) in the end, we are all winners.
